My husband and I went to Atlanta, GA recently to visit friends and spend a little time exploring the city. We met Robby and Lauren though Twitter and this was the first time we ever met in person. We spent time at their adorable home right outside of the city and just talked for hours. You can so fully see their love for one another and for the sweet baby boy, Owen. He is the happiest little guy! Almost as soon as we met I asked Lauren if I could hold him (and basically never give him back).
Their love is beautiful and unique. But, Lauren’s words will explain much better than my own.
“watching him become a father has been the single greatest joy of my life”
“When we first found out I was pregnant, I was so overwhelmed and incredibly nervous. It took me a while to become excited, but I was soon after so anxious to meet our baby. And then, when my midwife called and told me we were having a baby boy, I couldn’t wait to call Robby. I knew he was at work, but he answered really quickly. The first words out his mouth were “I’m gonna have a son!! I’m gonna be his dad!!” He was screaming and crying, at work, it was perfect. We both came from single mother homes, raised by strong women who did all they could to give us what we needed, but without dads. I love most things about Robby, his joy, and devotion, but watching him become a father has been the single greatest joy of my life. He still asks me sometimes if he is doing a good job at being a dad, because he never had that person in his life.
Robby and I knew what kind of parents we wanted to be, we talked about kids on our first date, ha! But actually walking in those roles now, I love how supportive he is and encourages me, and how loving and tender he is with Owen. And we hit the baby jackpot with Owen, he is unlike any baby I have ever met. He is so observant, and soaks everything in, he is the most joyful baby and has the sweetest demeanor. He loves being around people and being the center of attention, which has been a learning curve for his introvert of a mama. I am most excited to watch him grow and come into his already sweet personality, I sit and watch him as he looks around at the world taking it all in. I hope he grows up to love the Lord and to love every person as they are. I pray that he is just like his dad in those ways.”
